LOS CABOS WITH KYRA – PART 2

IMG_6824As we were in Los Cabos over Halloween and Day of the Dead, the staff at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos invited us to a special Halloween/Day of the Dead party!  It was such a great experience!  They set up a haunted house for us to walk through which was pretty cool!  The party area was decorated beautifully with Day of the Dead decor and they even had professional Sugar Skull face painters for those who wanted to get their face painted!  Those who got their face painted looked fantastic!  Unfortunately, I did not get my face painted as it would not have gone with my costume.  They also had a live band performing for us, games, and a huge buffet with a ton of delicious food!  The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere was fun and lively, and the food was just amazing!

I highly recommend staying at the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos and if you have the chance, to travel over Halloween!  It was so much fun!   For more details about the Los Cabos hotels I visited or to book your next vacation please feel free to email me at kyra@uniglobevacation.com!

DREAMS LOS CABOS WITH KYRA – PART 1

It’s October 30 and we just checked into Dreams Los Cabos! I have never been to Los Cabos or stayed at a Dreams resort before. I had an idea of what to expect, but wow! Both the resort and destination have exceeded my expectations!

Dreams Los Cabos is a breathtaking resort that goes above and beyond! Being the picky eater that I am, the employees at Dreams went above and beyond to accommodate my dislike for seafood! One waiter said he would make sure my salad did not have seafood then another waiter brought me a salad with shrimp. Before I could even take a bite, the first waiter came by and noticed I had received a seafood salad; he brought me out a new salad immediately!

The service here is truly top notch! It’s the little things that make all the difference! Some of other small gestures the resort does is provide every room with items such as a fresh fruit platter, your housekeeping maid’s name and how to reach her, tooth brushes and tooth paste, razors, SPF lotion, bathrobes, and slippers! This resort is amazing! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Colleen’s Cabo Getaway – Final Blog

Pool Time

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos.  Yesterday we found the adult pool tucked away behind building 3.  It was really nice with a multi level pool and in the water loungers.  The best part was that it has its own bar and restaurant that is never busy. Plus they have their own servers who are there to get you whatever you want.  Last night was  Mexican night, they brought vendors in from town so you could shop and never leave the resort.  We were living the good life!

We are sitting at the airport and are very happy with our vacation. We really liked being so close to Cabo San Lucas at the RIU Santa Fe.  It was a great town to be close to with all the restaurants and bars but the Hyatt Ziva was just the nicer of the 2 resorts. A nice hotel is hard to beat. Our only disappointment was that you could not swim in the ocean from either resort. But if the Hyatt were to invite us back we would not hesitate.

I would be happy to talk to you about a vacation in Cabo. Just call us at 306-242-TRIP.

Colleen’s Cabo Getaway – Part 3

The view from our Room at the Hyatt Ziva

Today we left the RIU Santa Fe and headed to the Hyatt Ziva in San Jose Del Cabo.  We really enjoyed our stay at the RIU.  The hotel was very clean with beautiful grounds and very friendly staff.  It has a very young clientele who like to party but if you stay at the pool in the middle of the resort it is very quite.  Just a reminder that there is construction at the RIU Palace until December so it can be noisy during the day.

We jumped in a cab and it took us 25 minutes to get to the Hyatt and 35.00USD.  We were happy at the RIU but right away we could tell the difference between the two hotels. We have a beautiful room with a bed that is like a football field with a huge bathroom and a balcony with an ocean view. We headed down to the pool and were greeted by the pool boys who helped us find a seat and get us cushions for our chairs right away the waiter was there getting our drink order.  There are no towel cards so you can have as many towels as you like. It is a totally different holiday but you get what you pay for.  Cheap is not always the way to go!  There are food carts at different areas of the pool so lunch was 2 shrimp tacos and nachos. After lunch we headed down to the beach to find you can’t swim in the ocean here either! This is a beautiful resort with all the amenities.  We are just going to settle in and enjoy the next couple of days.

Colleen’s Cabo Getaway – Part 2

Today we decided to go into Cabo San Lucas to look around. It costs 14.00USD to get into town form the RIU by cab so we decide to take the water taxi so that we can see some of the highlights of the rocks just off shore. That costs 17.00USD slovers-beach-2o we booked for 2:00pm.  We were picked up at the hotel and taken down the beach to where our boat was waiting. We were picked up from the beach so it was a little tricky with the waves.  When the waves go out, he pulled into the shore where we wade out into the water and a young man helps us on.  As you can imagine it’s none too pretty but we get on and head out on the water.  We were a party of 6.  Our captain took us along the shore and talked about the rock formations. It’s pretty interesting.  We stopped at pelican beach so that 2 of our group could get off to snorkel.  As we waited to drop them off our captain threw bread in the water so the fish would come up to the boat and they are beautiful.  From here we went to see Lovers Beach and the Arch. It is a beautiful boat ride that takes 30 mins.  On the way back we let off the other 4 to swim on Lovers Beach then the captain dropped us off in the Marina so we could explore Cabo San Lucas.

Cabo San Lucas is a great town with a ton of shopping, restaurants and bars.  We wandered around for about an hour doing shopping and then decided to look for Sammy Hagar’s bar Cabo Wabo.  In true style we got lost and found ourselves walking down a random street where we ran into the Cactus Blown Glass factory.  We walked in and I couldn’t believe the amount of glass in this shop.  If you’re a Mexican glass nut like me you will be excited. I don’t think that I have seen this much glass in one store.  We are met by the owner Israel Lizarraga who showed us around his shop.  We decided on 4 water glasses and a glass heart.  If you are coming to Cabo San Lucas I recommend that you check out this store.  Tell Israel that Colleen sent you.  He showed us how to get to Cabo Wabo and we got there in time for happy hour so drinks were 2 for 1! Our bucket came and we were happy to sit with our Coronas under the water misters and listen to the band they have on stage.  It was a great way to cap off an afternoon!

Hola from Mexico!

Great views from the RIU Santa Fe Beach

This is my first trip to Cabo so I was not sure what to expect but we arrived to a large modern airport that was very well run. When we arrived at customs all custom booths were open and it went very quickly considering there were a couple of planes coming in. We arrived at our home, The RIU Santa Fe two hours after we landed which is great. The RIU is in Cabo San Lucas and it the farthest hotel from the marina area. Check in was quick and we were taken to our room in building 5. If you have any mobility issues ask to be on the ground floor as there are no elevators and some rooms are 3 stories high so that means a lot of stairs. The only building with an elevator is building 7 which is an upgrade. We of course are on the third floor so lots of steps for us.  Our room is nice and clean but very basic. They supply soap and shampoo and nothing else. You will need to bring everything. The resort is not that big but is very well kept and clean. We are beach people so we headed out to look at the beach. It is nice but too dangerous to swim and there has been no attention to anyone sitting on the beach. There are a couple of chairs down there but no shade and a volleyball net. There is a roped off area to keep the vendors at bay but once you cross the rope to get to the ocean you’re fair game. We headed back to the pool area which is very nice with an infinity pool and two smaller pools with swim up bars. What I did notice is that there is only one bathroom down by the pool area so that means I am staying out of the swim up bar pools. In the hour we sat down there no one left their seats but continued drinking.   They must have great bladders!  Overall it looks like a nice resort.
