Kenya & Tanzania Highlights – Ed’s Africa Adventure part XVIII
October 10, 2011
We have an early morning transfer today with the driver picking us up at 05:30 to take us to the airport. We arrive in Livingstone, Zambia around 1:00 pm. The wait for getting our visas is quite long with only 2 customs agents handling the visa purchases for our flight. Unfortunately, the strap on our one piece of luggage is gone and someone has clearly been in our bag; nothing was missing and the three bottles of wine I brought from Capetown are still there (they are to me, the most valuable items in the suitcase).
Off we go to the Zambezi Sun hotel and after check in, we get ready for the Zambezi Sunset Cruise on the African Queen. This two-hour river cruise is very nice with an open bar and snacks. We see some hippo along the way but the highlight is in fact, the sunset. Very nice sunset on the river and it is a relaxed, enjoyable experience.
Back at the hotel, we aren’t that hungry and don’t feel like paying for the $43 USD per person price for their buffet dinner (we are missing the inexpensive meals from Cape Town) but instead settle for splitting a pizza and after having a cocktail at the pool to listen to the entertainment.
